About

Working Well was created to strengthen the capability and wellbeing of people working in the community sector. The project was funded by the Department of Communities and developed in partnership with the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA) using a whole-of-organisation approach.

Community service organisations such as MIFWA are uniquely placed to provide person-centred disability and mental health support services, however employees are faced with very significant challenges and risks in their work such as high emotional demands, financial insecurity, and working in isolation.

A major challenge for community organisations transitioning to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the provision of staff training, support, and professional development. For organisations providing support to clients with psychosocial disabilities, effective staff support is critical.

The Working Well content and resources have been developed by This Working Life (TWL) to specifically address the psychosocial risks of support work, with specific learning outcomes to build workers’ capacity to thrive in mentally healthy workplaces.

Working Well is an innovative model of best practice that supports the wellbeing of staff. This is always important; even more so in times of change and uncertainty. We hope other workplaces will be inspired to support their employees’ mental heath and wellbeing with this fantastic resource.
